A man groomed by paedophile Barry Bennell has won a cash payout from the holiday camp where he met the twisted football coach.
David Lean, 53, was 11 when he went to a week-long soccer school at Butlin’s in 1979, run by Bennell, currently serving 34 years for child sex abuse.
After a second holiday, Bennell invited him to train in Macclesfield and stay at his home, where he abused him.
Mr Lean’s lawyer said Butlin’s was “vicariously liable” for the abuse.
Mr Lean secured a five-figure settlement against Hard Rock Cafe (Edinburgh), formerly known as Butlin’s Ltd. While at the camps in Pwllheli, Gwynedd, he attended Crewe coach Bennell’s school every day.
Bennell, now 68, awarded him “boy of the week”, as he groomed him.
Mr Lean said: “I have fought for many years to seek justice for what happened to me as a child by that monster.
“Lessons must be learnt to prevent the abuse of further generations.”
His lawyer Kim Harrison, of Slater & Gordon, said: “It is a great shame that after all he has been through that it took issuing court proceedings for the defendants to settle his claim.”
Hard Rock Cafe declined to comment.
